Coach Gustavsson has been a part of the Bismarck Parks & Recreation summer baseball program since 2000. Here he has coached eight years of Senior Babe Ruth baseball (16 & 16-18 year old teams). The BReps won the North Dakota Senior Babe Ruth State Championship in 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2008. All eight years his teams were participants in the Midwest Plains Regional baseball tournament. They placed 3rd at the 2001 and 2007 tournaments. In 2003, he was the head coach of the Bismarck Representatives Class 'B' American Legion baseball team that qualified for the State Class 'B' Tournament.
Coach Gustavsson's coaching career began in 2000 at America's Leadership University, the University of Mary. At U-Mary, Gus was the Head Junior Varsity Baseball Coach for two years. In 2002 & 2003, Gus was the an assistant baseball coach at Bismarck State College. Gus serves as the Head Baseball Coach at Century High School, a position he has held since 2004. Under Coach Gustavsson, the Patriots qualified for the North Dakota State Class 'A' Baseball Tournament in 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2009, they placed 4th in 2008 and 5th in 2009.
Mike just completed his sixth year of teaching at Saint Anne’s School, where he teaches K-8 Physical Education and 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Health.
Mike and his wife Valerie, have two lovely daughters, Sydney 6-½ years old and Savannah 3 years old
