Kuschell managed/coached a summer collegiate baseball team in the Bay Area from 1979 to 1986 and won two league titles. Kuschell has cached youth baseball and high school softball along the way. He coached two years of American Legion baseball and a few Summers of U-16 fast pitch Softball. Kuschell coached pitchers and outfielders at Foothill High School for eight years. In 2018 Kuschell was the pitching coach at Ohio Christian University while taking the same position at Simpson University in 2019. In the summer of 2017 Kuschell was an assistant coach for the Genese Rapids of the NYCBL in Western NY. in 2020 he returned to Foothill HS to coach the pitchers and the outfielders. Foothill was off to a 4-0 start, with 3 shutouts, a team ERA of 0.28 while scoring 34 runs with 1 run allowed. The team was ranked #24 in the state of CA early March 2020 poll (probably the first, last and only 2020 poll due to the COVID-19) and #115 in the nation. Kuschell also helped coach a local California collegiate summer team in 2018 and 2019.

Kuschell played baseball at Riverside City College and San Jose State College. In 2014 Kuschell retired from pharmacy after 42 years.
